Smart Sock Update - Canada

Owlet has stopped distribution of the Smart Sock family of products to its distributor and our other commercial customers in Canada until we obtain a Medical Device Licence from Health Canada for the Smart Sock’s heart rate and oxygen notification functionality. We filed our application for the licence last week. If approved, we believe we could receive the Medical Device Licence as soon as early 2022 and would resume distributing the Smart Sock then in Canada.
For existing customers, the product’s functionality has not changed at this time and Owlet will continue to support existing users. However, at Apple’s request, the Owlet Care App will be unavailable in the Canadian Apple App Store until Owlet obtains the Medical Device Licence. Those who already have the app downloaded and use an iOS device will not be affected by Apple’s request to remove the Owlet Care App for new downloads. This only impacts those who have not yet downloaded the Owlet Care App for iOS.
The Owlet Care App remains available for Android devices in the Google Play Store. Additionally, users can access a web app to view live readings from the Smart Sock (app.owletcare.com); the web app does not offer push notifications. Cam users with an iOS device can download and use the Owlet Dream App, available in the Apple App Store (note, however, that this app does not currently support Sock products).
The Smart Sock has been tested by third parties and shown to be safe. The Smart Sock has been available for over six years, with four versions launched and over 1 million babies monitored around the world. We are proud of the innovation and peace of mind our products have delivered to parents, and we are eager to continue that innovation for parents and families in Canada.

Can I continue to use my Smart Sock in Canada?
The product’s functionality has not changed at this time. We will notify customers of any updates to the Smart Sock products that have already been distributed.
